On August 29th, a special seminar on the green and low-carbon transformation of clean energy consumption in the petrochemical industry was held in Beijing. The meeting was attended by representatives from CPCIF, CCAIA, China Nitrogen Fertilizer Industry Association, China National Coatings Industry Association, China Soda Industry Association, Calcium Carbide Industry Association of China, Professional Committee of Coal Chemical Industry, CNPC and CHN Energy among other units. Zhang Shoute, Vice Secretary General of CCAIA, participated in the meeting and provided an insight into the green and low-carbon transformation of clean energy consumption in the chlor alkali industry, especially putting forward opinions and suggestions on direct connection of green electricity and self use. The meeting studied the current situation of energy consumption in the chemical industry, including total energy consumption and structure, as well as clean energy consumption. The current practice of clean energy use for chemical fuels and raw materials was also discussed at the meeting, including the guarantee of green energy supply and economic analysis. Besides, the participants talked about the prospects for the development of the petrochemical industry, scalable clean energy (raw materials and fuels) technology paths and clean energy demand, energy-saving and carbon reduction technology paths, as well as relevant policy measures and suggestions during the 15th Five Year Plan period. They plan to continue in-depth research, form relevant research results, and submit them to the Development Planning Department of the National Energy Administration.
