Founded in 1981, the China Chlor-Alkali Industry Association (CCAIA) is composed mainly of domestic chlor-alkali manufacturers, together with relevant research institutes, design institutes, machinery manufacturers, provincial-level industry associations and other enterprises and public institutions. At present, the CCAIA boasts more than 200 member entities covering 29 provinces, municipalities directly under the Central Government and autonomous regions across the country, and most chlor-alkali producers among its members serve as backbone enterprises in their respective regions.

CCAIA¡¯s member enterprises produce a wide range of inorganic chemical products including caustic soda, hydrochloric acid, liquid chlorine, barium chloride, ferric chloride, and bleaching and disinfection product series. Their organic chemical products cover PVC and its copolymers, propylene oxide, epichlorohydrin product series, chlorinated solvents, straight-chain hydrocarbons, chlorinated aromatic hydrocarbons, chlorinated paraffins, and over 100 major chlor-alkali products in total. These products are extensively applied across all sectors of the national economy such as light industry, chemical industry, textiles, agriculture, building materials, electric power, national defense and military industry, and are closely linked to people¡¯s daily lives.

The CCAIA features a sound organizational system. The General Meeting of Members is its supreme authority, while the Council acts as the executive body when the General Meeting is not in session. The Secretariat, the permanent body of the CCAIA, is headquartered in Tianjin with a representative office in Beijing. Both bodies are under the leadership of the Council and responsible for day-to-day operations. The administrative bodies of the CCAIA consist of the General Management Department, Technology Development Department, Industrial Research Department, Information and Marketing Department, and International Cooperation Department. Their core functions include policy research, market strategy formulation, technological advancement, information exchange, industrial research, foreign cooperation, editorial and publishing work, consulting services, vocational training and standards formulation.

Since its establishment, the CCAIA has adhered to its fundamental mission of "Serving the country, society, the public and the industry", and fully leveraged its functions of collaboration, consultation and coordination. It puts forward proposals on industrial development strategies through investigations and research, timely reflects difficulties and demands of the industry and member enterprises, assists government authorities in macro-control, formulation of industrial policies and adjustment of product mix, and safeguards the legitimate rights and interests of member enterprises as it strives to secure a favorable external development environment for enterprises. It intensifies research on market strategies, formulates industrial rules and codes of conduct to uphold fair competition within the sector. It consistently organizes industrial technical exchanges and consulting services, arranges technical research campaigns to drive technological progress of the industry and enhance the competitiveness of domestic chlor-alkali products on both domestic and global markets. It leverages its official website and WeChat official account to deliver diverse information in a prompt, timely and accurate manner. It also deepens exchanges and cooperation with relevant international industrial organizations and corporations to help enterprises learn from advanced foreign technologies and management practices. Targeted training programs and standards development initiatives are carried out on a regular basis. It also manages all affairs related to its journal China Chlor-Alkali, as well as the compilation, publication and distribution of relevant industrial reports and professional books.

Under the core philosophy of "Standardization, Service and Development", the CCAIA will keep contributing to the high-quality development of China¡¯s chlor-alkali industry.
