CCAIA Attended Expert Consultation Meeting on Updating Dioxin Emission Inventory and Emission Factors

On August 27th, The Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment organized an expert discussion on updating the dioxin emission inventory and emission factors in Beijing. The meeting was attended both online and offline by the Ecological Environment Research Center of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, CCAIA, China Chemical Environmental Protection Association, China Paper Association and Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences among others. Zhang Peichao, Vice President and Secretary General of CCAIA, participated in the meeting. The Stockholm Convention on Persistent Organic Pollutants, which includes dioxin, one of the first controlled substances in Annex C of the Convention, came into effect in China in November 2004. According to the requirements of the Convention, China should compile and update a list of dioxin emissions, and include relevant information in the national report. In order to objectively evaluate the effectiveness of China's dioxin reduction actions, the Foreign Environmental Cooperation Center of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment organized this seminar, focusing on discussing the updated emission lists and emission factors of the power generation and heating, cement, pulp and paper, and chemical industries. The emission lists of the chemical industry mainly include products such as benzene chloride, caustic soda, and ethylene oxychlorination polyvinyl chloride, and the emission factors mainly include the dioxin content in air, water, products and residues.
