The expert group on "plastic particle ocean transportation" conducted on-site research on the development of Bohai Chemical Industry

On November 3, an expert group composed of relevant colleagues from the Association, the Water Transport Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, the Shanghai Maritime Safety Administration, and the China Petroleum and Chemical Industry Federation conducted field research on plastic particles in Tianjin Bohai Chemical Industry Group Co., Ltd. Association Vice Secretary-General Zhang Shoute participated in the research. Currently, multiple member states of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) have proposed the inclusion of plastic particles to be added to the list of International Maritime Dangerous Goods. If it is listed to IMDG, there will be a significant impact on China's synthetic resin industry. To prepare the technical information for the IMO's PPR11 (11th Pollution Prevention and Response) meeting on the ocean transportation of plastic particles in February 2024, the expert group conducted this field research. At Bohai, the research group heard a detailed introduction from Deputy General Manager Hao Yichen and Chief Engineer Li Chungeng about the production, packaging, loading and unloading of PVC, PP, and ABS. They also conducted a field visit to see the operation of packaging, loading and unloading of PVC and PP.
